Corporate Social Responsibility-3/5/2008
On Wednesday, 5 March 2008, exactly one year since Solution Exchange Bhutan was started in Bhutan. The occasion started with a get together from 12.45 pm. to 2 pm at the UN House, Thimphu, where a guest speaker was arranged to talk on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Guest speaker Mr. Anders Holbech from Denmark holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and has been working as Corporate Social Responsibility Advisor for several years with the Confederation of Danish Industries as well as PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Holbech drew in practical examples from representatives of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI).
The short get-together give a brief introduction to CSR including:
• why CSR is on the lips of corporate and development agencies around the world
• what drives CSR
• what modern CSR is
• why development agencies work with CSR, and
• what is happening in Bhutan on the front of CSR
